Valorien

I am Valorien.

I awoke after the great conflict, but not as a child awakes.. I opened my senses and was in many places. I am in the grass and the trees.. and they are in me. All living plants above the surface of Thain are part of me. The scars of the great war still blight me.

The roots of the oldest trees recall how I came to be: The gods were destroyed, their spirits roaming in a turbulent mass. But some part of that mass detected the ebbing life-force left in nature. The spirits merged with nature, hiding, recovering, giving nature strength to survive as well. As the seedlings rose from the ash of the war, so the spirit's strength grew also, and became I.

I am the growing nature in Thain. All that harms nature, harms me. My roots grow in my brother, Umbra, and like him I despise powerful arcane magic - it tears the essence out of me and rends the forests.

Death is as important as life for me. The end of a persons days is not really the end, as he returns to my brother who then provides for me. Thus death turns to rebirth and providence for new life. But each has their own time to die. The balance of nature can be upset if the natural order is upset by unnatural means….

Valorien died alongside the other gods at the end of the Shadow War.

Children of Valorien

Since it is rumored the old pantheon of gods left with Andarus and Zentarus it is fair to assume that Valorien left along with them; however his presence is still very much felt amongst nature. Perhaps one of the gods closest to mortals, "children" of this god often appear to those attuned to nature in the form of a nature force, be it an animal or an elemental; or a mere breeze.
